八月初，是桂花开的季节。这一开，使大街小巷都浸在桂花的香气里。小朋友都喜欢采桂花，我也如此。

八月中旬，是桂花开得最旺的时候。我随着桂花的香气，来到了一棵桂花树前。迎面的扑鼻香使我仿佛进入了童话世界。全是金灿灿的桂花树，金枝叶。眼前出现的事一座金碧辉煌的殿堂和玲珑剔透的水晶宫。天上飘下一片片粉红色的花瓣。

不觉张开眼的我，看见的却是一棵寒酸的桂花树。虽然绿叶衬托着可爱的黄色小花有一点点意境，可总体看来它却格格不入：没有梅树的姿态，没有木棉的精神……一点也比不上其他树。我失望地离开了。

我下意识地把凋谢了的花摘下来，回到家里仔细观察起来：那些花瓣虽然谢了，但还依旧散发着一阵阵的清香。我猛地心头一震：我错怪桂花了！它有着崇高的精神。即使凋谢了，也努力散发出一阵一阵清香，衷心为人们服务。我感动地把它们留意翼翼放进杯中，冲了杯“香浓”的桂花水，让我能够静静地品尝，那有着崇高精神的桂花的香气……
